HARDCORE MODELING: Ray Harryhausen Tribute: Diorama
FINAL ENTRY:
This is the Sinbad/Kali fight scene from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad. Kali was the creature I remembered most from watching those movies as a kid, so that’s why I choose her.
There were two Kali models used in the movies, there was a full sized one which was actually on the set with the actors, and a miniature that was used for the animation.
The full sized one had a lot more detail so I was making a version of that, rather than the miniature.

It’s all Lightwave, with some mudbox sculpting for Sinbad’s clothing. It took a couple of weekends and some weekday evenings.
And the Winner…

HARDCORE MODELING!: Ray Harryhausen Tribute: Cyclops
I’m going to have to call this done as I have other commitments that I have been ignoring to do this challenge. I just had to do something for this challenge as Ray Harryhausen has been such an influence on my life, as he has been to so many other especially of my generation. The Cyclops from the Seventh Voyage left an indelible mark on me as a child one that has stayed with me to this day so, I chose to recreate it. I worked on this for about two and a half weeks. Working between 6 to 10 hours a day. It would probably have taken less time if I new what I was doing. This is the first time that I have ever modeled a full figure from scratch. I learned a lot and had a blast doing it. I used Modo for the base mesh, created the displacement, bump and color maps in ZBrush rendered in Modo ,and used PhotoShop to composite the renders. I hope you like it.

Hi

. She’s a talented, focused, fast modeller. We partecipate to this challegne and we learned a lot (finally we succeed in a good zbrush displacement). I learned about human modelling and I hope to have helped her in a bit of rendering technique and materials. I also want to congratulate with the other partecipants the did a great tribute to the master
