volume fog

Hey ! I set an IES sun light on my scene with mental ray ,and the settings on the environment dialog are: logarithmic exposure control and exterior daylight.
I want to add clouds on my scene using volume fog on gizmo boxes. when i appliy my effect the clouds become black !
what did i do wrong ?
