Hi there.
This a long architectural project of mine which started back in 2004.
Anyway this is just a bit of the terrain.
Forget the part of the house which has nothing yet really.
My idea is to finish the exteriors of the house first, then the interiors.
House is located in Portugal, Vila Verde and is completly surronded by vegetation. No escape to this.
Hope to ear some critics/comments while i post more of the WIP.

Still going to add stones to the dirt soil. At the moment im starting to work on the house exterior walls etc.
As said before i will work more on the soil.
Will add some more different ground vegetation and little stones in between the dirt pathway and the grass, but im leaving this now to the end part of the exteriors.
Still its missing the far background - mountains . and also missing a lot of trees surronding the house.
Posting first try on the stucco which im not yet pleased about it. Works better close view but far view looks wierd. Perhaps its the settings or its too much bump when camera is far away.
What do you think? Any ideas or any awesome stucco material you know about?
Stucco im using is an huge stucco map fr cgtextures + vray dirt on diffuse slot then ive got a mix of 2 different procedural stucco in bump map.
Forgot to say that its still missing the roof, and stone walls in some parts of this side of the house.

You’re renderings do look very nice. How long are the rendertimes?
Did I get it right? This house is already build? What about some pictures from the real one?

Render times: 3dsmax Vray 1600x1200pixeis = about 2h and a half with IR+LC no Detail E.
Computer: QuadCore 8GBRam but im just about to receive a new Dual Xeon 16Gbram which hopefully will change things a lot in terms of speed and RAM. Im looking foward to animate this.
House is not constructed yet but in construction. Concrete part is almost finished.
Ill probably go next week there so ill take some photos and post here if i may

Img mid close of stucco wall. Still working on it, still trying to find the best way to add dirt too. Will probably change stucco to something like plaster instead. This one seems too noisy.
Working on roof, windows and aluminium too- will add double glass to window frames and reflection in the back side too of the glass.
You said it takes you 2.5 hours to render each frame, and you want to make an animation…let’s say, 30 seconds long, 25 fps, that’s going to take 78 days to render . The house might already be done by then!
You say that you’re trying to convince the client to stick with your original design. So I’m going to play devil’s advocate for a moment. If I was the client intending to live in this house, I would have to point out that it’s not going to stay clean white for long. What will it look like after a couple years? Is that still going to look good? If you choose a tan color of stucco it will probably hide the dirt better.
Technically speaking, you’ve got an amazing amount of detail there in the grass and trees. I didn’t realize Max could handle that much natively – I’ve seen it done mostly in other programs like Vue. Nice job!

Dont worry, these are just the 3d stills and a WIP so im changing things hopefully if i have time.

When the animation comes if it comes, every material will be changed. To faster, hopefully.
Also resolution will be much much less than this images and ill try ofc to do the best i can do and learn with it.
This is a work for me first of all. 3D Portfolio. A work for practice - skills etc.
The client will have this for free.
Im giving it just for the pleasure of doing 3d and try doing something nice with architecture, and visualization.
I just hope the house finishes well. For the sake of the client.
Ive heard his wishes and we are trying to make it real, but unfortunatly some people around here (portugal) dont understand architecture, and its very hard to convince whats best for the local region and himself.
About the dirt, the house is still missing the stone walls - local region material - in some important parts to prevent infiltrations. Its also missing the tiles of roof - local region material too - which will follow soon. Im allways into adding dirt, i like it.
Im posting some plaster test imgs with a bit of color tone.
Lets discuss the 3D and not the client issues, in my honest opinion.

2.5 houres a re really a huge rendertime für film. You can only handle that with a renderfarm setup… maybe some from the internet. I’m very interested how the rendertimes will decrease with the new computer.

Yes indeed 2.5h is too much time for an animation. Im very aware of that.
Ill have to re adjust everything to be honest. Every material, settings, resolution etc.
Im building my own “farm” with 3 computers but only in one or two weeks ill have it ready.
In the animation im decreasing every frame to 10/ 20minutes max. But ive no idea at the moment. Im focusing on the 3d stills now.

This is so good that I was wondering of it’s really 3d.Must have taken lots of rendering and testing.
Question - Far right side of the image and building, does the concrete actually end like that? Above the ground? A recommendation would be to adjust the ground texture up, so you can hide that.

Its very well done. I’m amazed by the way you managed to make the trees and the environment. The attention to detail is great. Its a little hard to comment on the building itself when you can only see one side, which appears to be the west based on the sun. I think it could use a few more windows for a lot more light especially on the right side, but its hard to say when I can’t see the other facades. That sloping roof on the right looks like it could make nice interior spaces. When you put the roof on you should also do a few interior renderings. It looks really well done, and I’m looking forward to seeing it finished.
Here´s a little update. Still a lot to paint (dirt) and model.
Done some stone wall tests with a material done from scratch. Also toned the stone pavement. There´s an error on the right. Ignore that pls.
I think ive got to tone better the diffuse map of the stone wall. Dont know for sure. What do you think about it?
I havent posted this last two days because i had to install lots of things in my new workstation - dual xeon 2.44 16gbram.
This 1600x1200p is the 1st render made with it. Took exactly 1h52m.
This same close-up image, same setings done on my old Quadcore 9950 8GBRam took around 3h30m.
@Moose. Thkx for the input. About opening more windows i cant do that. The concrete part of the house is already made and its almost impossible to change that at this phase. What can be changed on the other is some materials but everything must be economic. Nothing too fancy - clients doesnt want rich materials. Interiors shots will only happen after all exterior is done. Rest of the house is still being made.

Not completly satisfied with the stone result but for now i can live with it

Promised to post photos of the current process of the real construction and enviroment. I hope you like it. Still a lot to do there in the site same as in 3d work hehe. dont know if i said this before but i have to stop this work for a while. Got an huge 3d college to do which ill certnaly share with you guys.
