ViaCad and MForge test

#1

Playing about trying to get a better feeling for ViaCad, although I still find some of the tools to be very unintuitive compared with Modler.
Also having fun with MForge. Strange thing is that I can’t access a lot of the presets because Rampbase keeps giving me an error message every time I try and load it. Anyone else have this problem?
Mike.

if you don´t mind, i have a question about MForge. Does it work also with GI and the Lightplane shader? I´ve seen only images so far which look like if they are made with standard lighting set-ups.

Stefan

This is with GI turned on. I haven’t used the Lightplane shader so…

Thanks for showing Mike!

I get the Rampbase error with some MF presets, too, because I don’t have the Rampbase schader I guess.

MF works well here with GI. Some examples using MF presets, hdri IBL or RI:

ennepermod1_4
miniholes
modG_2
dodecahedron5_1
dualcube3
eightstrips1
tetrahedron1_1
pyramidtubes7_1
sphereholes3_2
tubering2_1

Nice examples, VK.
Looks like MForge is fine with GI and HDRI.
How about RT reflection skymaps and GI glossy?

You can get the Rampbase shader here:

http://www.konkeptoine.com/

in the free section. I have it in the shader directory, it just doesn’t want to load for some reason.

Freaky models - I like them.

Mike.

Hello, nice Mforge examples… dodecaedron 5-1 is my favorite.

Here I can not open, Material libraries Mforge in EIAS 7.0.1, every time I try EIAS closes…

perhaps there are Mforge libraries updated to UB but can not find them.

someone knows anything about this?

Cheers
Diego

You can find the update request here.

Hola Stefan, I already have Mforge UB and works well, that just could not find Library presets, now the library opens ok:thumbsup:

Thank you very much!

Thanks for the comments and for the Rampbase hint.

I installed the Rampbase shader. However, when I try to load it as a diffuse texture, Animator reports
“The selected file cannot be used as a
texture or shader (missing image data or shading code.)”

When I load an example material using MF and Rampbase, the Rampbase shader is listed in the diffuse maps list. Doubleclicking the shader crashes Animator. The example material is in “Additional_Materials.prj” in the MForge_Samples collection.

Camera reports
“A system API function has returned an unexpected
error number. Library: SCAL Error ID: 2 Error number: -1
File: …/RampBase.shd”

I’m using the current Rampbase (downloaded today), EIAS 7.0.1, iMac G5, OS X 10.4.11.

I guess that Rampbase isn’t UB compatible.

The Gradient shader will do a similar job.

Just as a matter of interest this is a test done with Maxwell renderer - I just started using it so don’t really know what I’m doing.
Mike.

#14

OOPS, where did the attachment go?

#15

Very nice Spleeve!
Hate to say it, but I like this a lot more than the one you did in EI.

Incredible. Too much solutions avaiable for now on the modeling and the rendering side of the spectrum. Now days is hard to have style so many softwares so many tools.WOW

Yes, the models were made with TopMod and k3dsurf. I used Silo to clean up and export.
