hi guys,
i just started to use wings3d, and i have a few things missing.
is there a split polygon script or something like in maya?
or a clickdrag vertex script or plugin … you know … selecting and moving a vertex in one click … like in maya

There is no split polygon tool or a plugin for it. Connect edges or verts is the closest you’ll get.
But “tweak” is exactly what you want. its accessible through the menu bar just below the virtual mirror (which btw is a very nice implimentation).
tweak. i didn’t discovered that yet
thanks for the tip … i’ll try it out tomorrow … no i need some (a lot of) rest.
bye
nice work there. you should beable to acces tweak by just pressing T instead of menu searching.
hi .
i tried this tweak stuff in wings and i love it!!! i think i can model better in wings than maya … i simply love this freeware app.
Goon, blackthorn3d … thanks for your help.
now the only thing missing is this split poly tool.
somebody!!! script it!!
Hi,if you mean a tool to subdivide a polygon there is none except for the smoothing or the tesselate operations but it would be a nice addon to be able to do it like in Xsi where you select the face(s) and activate the tool then choose from star, triangles or other edge patterns which sometimes can help finding the right flow.
That said,it can be done manually with a few connect operations.
Nevertheless, there are many ways to add detail easily in wings3d.
If you model the volume first and then get the edgeflow right, adding detail using bevel/extrude should be quite easy.
hi actarusprocyon,
no i don’t mean to subdivide the polygons.
the thing i want is to be able to click on the edges next to each other, and where i click, there will be vertices automatically connected. that means i can draw edgeloops manually where i want. i know i can connect the edges, but then i have to move the vertices in place.
cheers!
I think there’s a plugin called Draw Loop by Clacos(not sure) that does just that but I don’t know where to get it since I don’t use any.
whoo hoooo thanks … i’ll search for it!
if i find it, i’ll let you know where can you download it.
you’ll need to use an earlier version of wings .94 or so, and that takes you quite a ways back (no proxy mode smoothing)
I read this from the main page.
The RMB command for Cut (formerly known as “cut and slide”) was not
useful if selections was turned off during dragging. Changed so that
a red cut marker can be dragged along the edge to choose the position
and THEN cut. I never used the slide pluggin so I’m not sure exactly how it works besides moving points along an edge. but I thought the above sounded similiar. you can manually move them along an edge by select a vertex select move then the edge you want to move it along. clacos pluggins I heard that bjorn might take over the slide not sure about drawloop and if clacos does them they probabbly wont be updated till around vers 01 of wings.
