Vehicle: Ferrari F333 SP

[font=Arial][font=Tahoma]Hello, not posted for a while and thought I would post a recently finished car. I posted this originally in the Game Art forum but the thread was lost in the great hack!

This is a low-poly model weighing in at < 10k triangles. I figure this is a reasonable budget by today’s standards considering that some contemporary in-game car models are 10-15k triangles. It’s all done in Lightwave and a little colour balancing in Photoshop.

The car itself is pretty interesting in that it was the development car for the F40, F50 and the Enzo. It raced all the enduro races during the mid-nineties.

For low poly is very nice. The carpaint material is very good one. I never used lightwave but can you post some settings. Do you used a HDRI map?

#3

Nice one mate !

looking even better this time…

#4

Cheers BOTH of you :). This one is dropping like a lead balloon.

Sqwall: Cheers. Yes HDRI is used for lighting. I know that’s not technically realtime (yet) but there you go. Settings were pretty easy really. A couple of spots (one key plus another for spec) and the HDRI for the rest. Rendered with GI obviously.

kiwi123: Respect as always

Here is a wire for all TWO of you:

Still love it mate

Are you planning to make more textures for it? You could do a whole slew for this model because it raced for quite some time.

#6

Cheers Buzzbomb!

Yeah I may do a couple more liveries. I especially like the blue and white ones. I may still offer this up for inclusion in one of the many mods out there. Anyone willing to take it off my hands and do the necessary to get it into one of these? I haven’t got the time to do it myself

#7

Very nice model
You should repost it in the Lightwave section  You will get more responses there

And polycount for games is counted in triangles :stuck_out_tongue:
So your model is more like 20 to 30K polys

Dear Baroba,

Aomcaloes is a games industry veteran, he’s been doing models for many years now…PS2, XBOX and PC. He’s just too shy to admit it
It actually is 10K in triangles…heheheh…

Cheers,

Wiek

Voel me nogal onnozel op dit moment :schaaplach:

I feel a bit silly right now
I remember the time when I modeled low poly ( never as a pro, but as a hobby gamemodder) you could actually count the polygons on a model ( 500 polys and then the gaintleap to 1500! polys) those were the days
These days you cant do that anymore, so I guestemated(spelling?) that it were 10K polys in quads. My wrong
Still a great model
And I rated it 4 stars

excellent and such a clean work…damn…i am jealous!!! :bounce:

I really would like to play a race game game with a car like this.

#11

very nice reflections on that car! lookin good

#12

I think its a beaut! well for a Ferrari that is

keep up the good work, and respect to the RealTime Dept.

#13

It looks great!

  • You can hardly tell it is a low poly model.
  • Only when the wheels and the headlights look faceted.
  • Perhaps the reflection on the metal under the front is too strong.
  • Very clean geometry.

#14

I really can’t say anything bad about it, I agree with Ed here about the wheels, but hey, it’s still “low polygon” eh
The model’s even got the “lucky 13” on it

#15

very clean worku have to work on ur headlights I can hardly notice the glass
congrt very nice I  it

#16

I’d personally like to see it rendered in a little more “gamely” fashion, like without raytracing/shadows, and with game-res textures on it. But, it looks fantastic!!

#17

Excellent modeling - low poly or not!
