Vector displacement export

#1

I tried to export a vector displacement map from ZBrush 4R5, just for testing purposes because I never tried this feature before.

I created a simple sphere in Modo, created UVs for it there, and imported the exported OBJ file into ZBrush. I sculpted a simple, mushroom-like shape, and exported a vector displacement map.

Unfortunately, ZBrush exports complete, and utter bs.

The first 32 Bit EXR map I exported was completely black. The 16Bit TIF I tried to export was of grey color almost entirely, except for a square of blue-ish color in the lower left corner that in no way represents the shape of the UVs.

Then I tried to export the vector displacement map using the Multimap Exporter plugin, activated the vector displacement export, tangent space, EXR format.

When I clicked on “Export all Maps”, ZBrush started to export a series of EXR maps (I aborted the process after the creation of the 20th EXR map), all of them grey, with the blue-ish square in the lower left corner I told you about, each in slightly different blue-ish color.

What am I doing wrong? What do I need to do exactly to extract a usable vector displacement map in ZBrush?

first try Diagnostic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXdFTCDLpBo
then see the help file http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/exporting-your-model/vector-displacement-maps
if the Multimap Exporter plugin didnt work then try tool>vector displacement map
and you can all most bet zbrush will have Vector Displacement Brushes in the up coming versions
