I have to apply a clients plaid/tartan texture to a wellington boot model. I got the model from turbosquid but the UVs supplied aren’t what I’m looking for. What’s the best way to do this? I was hoping to do some kind of pelt mapping, but as far as I know c4d doesn’t have that feature. The boots will be viewed from the front, so its the front and sides and the toe I’m worried about.

So I’ve cut the back edge and unwrapped the UVs and got quite a good result. The toe area is distorted though, what’s the best way to fix that?

Was the texture designed to fit the model ?
If not you could project it using Bodypaint, painting over it like a stensil, and finally get all the parts right …
Then bake it and get back the UVs
