UV Unwrap is Garbled, Please Help

#1

So, admittedly I’ve gotten rusty at 3D modelling since graduating uni. I’m currently working on a 3D model of a sci-fi jet fighter, I’ve come to do the UV unwrap but the map is non-sensical even though I’m positive I’ve done the seams correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated, screenshots below:

Have you unwrapped all the uv shells? That just looks like a default unwrap modifier. I’m guessing you’ve cut the seams but havn’t unwrapped the shells.

I tried selecting the faces that form each section (what I assume you mean by shell) in the normal perspective view then moving them away from everything else in the UV editor window but it’s pulling other stuff along with it even though there aren’t any gaps in the seams. Does that make sense?
