Hi guys Im kind of new in this 3d world and im working with maya 2011 , in a character texture , may be this question sounds silly but i would like to know if when i create a set of 2 uvs layout for my character means that i have to apply two different materials to it as well (material means lambert blinn or phong ) . thanks in advance guys!!!

you use UV linking in the relationship editors menu to assign a texture to a particular uv map… so you don’t have to use different shaders
