UV mapping questions


I am trying to UV map a basic building in maya so that I will be able to paint on it in photoshop however the size of a few UVs are massive compared to others. This happens when trying to keep the checker material the same size on all parts of the building. I was wondering what would happen if i shrunk the big UVs down so I could increase the size of the smaller parts of the building making it easier to paint.


You could scale down big uv s or even cut them into pieces but the checker map should be even in all.
