Using gradient along displacement?

#1

For some reason I can’t figure this one out.

I thought there was a normal input for use with the gradient… maybe with sampler info… where I can place a ramp/gradient along the displacement.

This allows me to create a black and white gradient along the displacement where black is the lowest and white is the highest.

I can do this with projection on a flat plane but am having a hard time remembering how to do it on a sphere where the direction is just outwards on the normal.

I thought I could stretch the ramp outwards using the displacement distance as the primary factor in gradient color.

Anyone help tick my memory? I thought it was with the sampler info node.

Thanks.
