Uplift Universe - Video Entry: Kamen Anev

THX! well it has to fit in the screen somehow

#16

very cool concepts!!! hope you’ve started with 3d by now? hehe

#17

actually I don’t want to use 3D, so these drawings serve some kind of a background for the video, (or let’s call is animation) so these drawings are a little bit more than concepts in that case.

Looks very good.
I wonder how are yiou going to animate it.
Blending between stillframes, or just panning, zooming…
With some cool audio, it may turn out very beautiful. Infact one of my favourite short films, La Jette (it was a basis for Guilliams “12 monkeys” years later), - was actually a slideshow.
The narration and sound helped sell the great story. Watching it you forget its just still images.

Good luck

I’ve watched La Jetée yesterday… It was really brilliant! I’ve never heard of it before… (shame on me!). But what I’m trying to do, has more “zooming movements” - actually zooming out all the time-, little movements and some play with lights and objects. I will upload a detailed storyboard with the (almost) finished pitcures to make it more understandable.

And THX for the tip (La Jetée)!

what I still have to do is to make the “alien connection” of the story more recognisable…

Amazing! I just loves this type of motion artistic expression!

#28

Wow! I really enjoyed that  Very unique style…I love the way you got the images to move (wasn’t noticeable that you did that just from the storyboards). Congrats on finishing such a unique piece!

This is really nice! And also very artistic!GREAT WORK!

#31

thanks everyone!

well… the music is maybe ‘trippy’… we wanted to have a music that doesn’t determine the story, only gives us a ‘deeper’ feeling (hard to explain), so we wanted to open up something, and not only illustrate it.

thanks!
Yes, it’s a bit post-apocalyptic with the music and the old buildings, it’s a kind of future where the new buildings and environments are not integrated in the buildings of the past, they are just emphasising the contrast between them. But I really didn’t want to ruin your day
