Hey mate…sorry…didn’t even see this thread until now!

I think all the shots are looking pretty solid so far…night shots aren’t too dark…alien integration looks good from the stills…looking forward to seeing the animation

#22

Loooking good so far night seens also look fine on my non gamma corrected screen, thought I did use the samsung auto colour balance and the photoshop thing when U first set it up, so dont know if those count.
Other than taht every thing is looking tip top, ohh yeah creature looks good too.

#23

here are some more night shots.

one with the alien in it.

i have definately gotta sort out those edges of the trees on the sky replacement tho, they look bushly!

#24

here are some shots of the alien.

really dissapointed i didnt ahve enough time to get more detail on him. just ran out of time on the texturing.

hope you guys like anyways.

cheers

Hey guys

here is the first cut of “the moor”.
we tried to go with something different to what we thought everyone else would be doing and i hope you guys like.

the alien is miissing in one shot, near the end. but will be in the next cut.

the budget in total for the whole trailer was £30.

by the way its half res 320 x 240

crits are welcome.

Daniel and bruno

ps one quick question, this file is like 24 mb, do we have a certain limit to how much we can upload? i read something about 50 meg, but didnt know if it was 50 meg in total(whcih i hope it isnt) or 50 meg per upload!

cheers

ok guys just want to say that the sound quality is really bad. its made a mess of our sound effects and sound track! dont know why. it was on 16 bit stereo with 44,000 mhz.

also sorry for the picture quality aswell, its blown it up to 640 x 480 even tho the res is 320 x 240, so its very pixelated.

cheers for watching

Daniel

Hey mate

Good to see a full cut of it!

Some comments:

-didn’t really understand the whole story. The building at the beginning was nice…but then it seemed to just cut to a montage of chasing shots…switching from daytime, to nightime, etc etc. I think the place where the seemingly-random-sequence-of-events starts was when he covered that egg thing with his shirt. I was intrigued as to what it was…was hoping he’d examine it closer etc…but then it just went into montage-mode. Maybe a more linear and intuitive ordering of the shots would help? Like maybe have the “jumping at the screen” shot sooner, and end with the night shot, to imply that the guy got killed and the alien is still on the prowl?

-the animation for the jumping-at-the-screen shot lacked anticipation…I’d suggest having him sort of do a back-step before the jump, to give him (the alien) more weight and to preface the jump with some anticipation

-yea the audio was a bit weird in some places…check to make sure that you’re never going “into the red” when it comes to decibles with your audio editing program

-it looks like you did some sky replacements in some of the shots…but not all…this broke up the continuity at the beginning

-would’ve been nice to have some foley sound. Just having the musical track distances your audience from the action…but adding all the foley for a lengthy short like yours would be very time consuming so I’m assuming you’ll be leaving it out

Good job overall! Looking forward to the next draft

Hey, looks pretty cool!

I’m just gonna echo Tyson’s comments above, I think because of the pacing of the intro, I wasn’t immediately aware that I was watching a trailer. So I was also a bit confused at first when it became a montage of shots.

#30

Thanks very much for the constructive comments guys. It’s all very valid. The sound is clearer and more defined and when it hasn’t been mangled by the bad Flash export we did.
We’re going to see what we can do today to fix parts of it. Time permitting… aargh!
Thanks again.

Ah yea that voice-over works great and really ties everything together! Much better solution than all of my suggestions

Nice to see the making-of too…you did a great job turning the daytime shots into night shots! (I didn’t even realize you’d done that for the fire shots…I thought you’d recorded them at night).

Good luck! Great to see it all done!
