yo, nice sketching, Slav! Always dig your strong colors and bright scapes!

#25

very nice sketch !!

#26

Looking very promising, Slav.
Keep pushing and I’ll keep spying on you:)
Cheers,

#27

a different idea thats not relying on monkeys. if you guys dont mind drop me a line and let me know what one you like more. the input is very much appreciated.

#28

Dude, did I see a pointy elf ear on the helmet? That’s so hilarious! I assume the fairy looking beings are aliens that the guy wants to bottle? How about Sea Monkeys instead?

Personally I think this new concept can be quite interesting if you can pull off a nice lighting and mood. Perhaps a portrait mode?

#29

hello slav, I really like the colors and texture in this new concept, a good energy resides inside that picture. So i vote number 2. Lets see more updates!!

well i spent a while blocking in some models for the helmet and the arm. this one is from a bit earlier today but never the less its 1:30 and i am close to being done for the night.

OZ: thanks man ill save the neomonkey for another project. that something to put under my coffee.

Thaldir: hehe i figured if i started mucking about with new concepts i would never get anything done in time. so i am just going to finish this underwater guy and call it done.

mdavid: hey man! yea unfortunatly i didnt like the thing enough to go with it. ill probably do something with later. i like the eyes too! too bad i couldnt spin something of the same in the one i am doing right now. :expressionless:

jeromoo: its not actually elf ears but volcan ears but i guess all’s the same in the end. they hopefully add a bit of the sillyness that has been going into my work recently.

Fetus23: thanks! ill stick with it.

Hi Slav! I like the comp, and the helmet design its great! I think that the human face its going nice as also his outfit and the mecha hand, does add a good contrast to the organic design of the aliens! Although I am still not to sure what they are and what they do? So any explanation about them will help me to understand better the action…

Like always your painting skills are great!:applause:

#33

Same as Axel, I’m a bit lost plot wise with your latest ( that looks gorgeous anyhow!). I think though that potentially it’s a great idea, that of aliens being less, lets say, advanced so humans are up in the evolutionary scale, but necessary for some reason, therefore harvested- human greed I suppose

I love all your concepts, anything you go for it’s for sure to look great, but I’m slightly partial to that one in the forest, for some reason? I dig the use of old querky stuff in his space suit in this, and as a crit, and being picky, I think the shoulder line is way below where it should be, or he’s got a big neck.
Great stuff, anyhow! And good luck!

(he’s got a cintiq…damm… )

well ill have to post the story then. ill try to write something but if it comes down to the last minute ill have to finish the image then post it.

i already made a mock up for the helmet as well. but since the ttc is on strike this week end i fear that ill be stuck here for a few days. i am just wondering if there is any need to bring the alien tech closer to him in the foreground… i am thinking of making the thing they are standing in a volcanic vent of sorts… so its going to have some bubbles commin out of it. so i am afraid its going to obscure the foreground too much. maybe some dust things towards the bottom of the image?

well ill have to solve some problems when i get home. ill post some wires for helmet and arm, i still dont know if i should texture them but ill decide that later.

#35

Cool! Is he trying to catch the little alien things with his arm thing? I like your sketches, looking forward to see more.

#36

hey slav!, i’ve never seen a space suit with ears before  loved it, keep up the good work :wip:

#37

This is really cool, completely different to the concept I commented on earlier. Looking forward to how it turns out - good luck!

#38

Hey Slav, i like a lot your last wip, awesome palette!! the enviroment is developing in a really amazing way, cool! ( Is he taking an alien sample? If yes, perhaps the robotic hand can be on front of the helmet and the man observing the little alien, only a comment  ) Like Axel, I like a lot the idea to mix organic and technologic devices ( The ears on the helmet is a great touch!). Really awesome work Slav! And looking foeward for more updates! Cheers mate !

#39

pretty much worked out the background. now i need to put some detail into it and start with the foreground.

#40

Minnhagen: yea i was thinking he would be going after one of them. thanks for dropping in and sharing your comments.

Octostatue: i just have to wonder why no one thought of it before. seems like a perfect match. oh and i know it doesnt read like water just yet but it will eventually, i hope.

Pearlyking: yea i dont think there was enough contrast in the other one. too much vegitation compared to mecha. so i decided to go with this one. it seemed like it has a more interesting story to it as well.

Ferx: thanks for your tip man. ill give it a try, but i have to finish the helmet 1st. worry about details like the hand a bit later (mostly because i wanted him to be nudging the aliens towards the bottle).

#41

Hi Slav, I really like the design of the small aliens you created. There are so many curious-looking objects to the right side of the human diver that they confuse us with the aliens themselves. I supposed you could try pushing the unique plants to the background with a nice depth of field (blurred, especially when seeing far away things underwater).

I am wondering what is the real function of the elf ears you put on the diver’s helmet? Is it some sort of disguise to fool the possibly dumb-witted foreigners?

Hurry up and finish it in time, Slav!

#42

its mostly inpired by old plane graphics and decals, for example like the way that fighter pilots used to count how many planes they shot down with stamps. this is a kind of tribute to that. obviously it still needs some work but soon!

#43

a little update. still lotsa work to be done.

slowly building up a story for this too!

A strange tale of a 9-5 shift beneath the seas of Europa. Is it really that big of a surprise that humanity is still lagging behind everyone else in the universe?
