Myself, I really liked your previous concept. It was cute and the relationship was very clear. With this new one, I can’t actually tell what’s going on: Are they friends? Enemies? Is she holding his paw to keep him from attacking her? Or perhaps you’re going for that ambiguity. Or maybe you have a clear idea that will just become clearer to us as you progress… Good luck!

I got advice that maybe the previous concept didn’t really show the friendship between the characters, and I think that’s about right. I expanded the canvas, and made it a bit clearer.

Added a bridge/takeoff thing to the side. I think I might paint over the waterfall to the left.

The bridge was too close and distracting, and the waterfall was just ugly. Trying something more subtle, I guess?

Hi Sida, I would suggest going for a simpler background to bring out the characters better. Having a nice suitable sky there will also help bring out the intended mood. Personally, I feel that the alien creature is too savage looking that it will tear the girl apart any minute. Perhaps you can try to make it look more friendly and calm around her as if it really likes the girl very much it will do anything to protect her from harm.

I agree with jeromoo. I preffer your gorgeous concepts from earlier…ones that focused on the characters and suggested a backdrop with only a few soft strokes…here there is too much attention for the environment…and i am thinking it doesn’t need to be so important. it feels as if we are creeping into familiar territory.

I feel the portrait aspect ratio has more impact than landscape…the flat ground doen’t really do it for me…appreciated that it is still early stages.

loving the colours regardless

Background buildings looks great. The evolution of the work is very good

Awesome work. One critique. I think if you moved the city to the left side of the canvas you might get a little more balance in your piece. Right now all the focus is to the right. Just a thought. I loved your color pallette and mood with the girl on the swing very warm and comforting. Great job!
