Thanks for the words of encouragement - much appreciated
Looks very cool! Lot of details!
I find your scene very impressive!
I can not wait to see more…
Good luck!
Hey thanks a lot. I’m do have a few concerns that maybe there is too much detail and that I should rather zoom into a section and render that; but we’ll see when I’m done with the underpainting…
Closeup shot - underpainting detail - maybe I have bitten off more than I can chew… still a way to go.
The server bot now has wrists and ankles to stand on!
The human is beginning to look like that guy in that film who had no hand and a chainsaw? Maybe not.
Some nice solid drawing and character designs there!
I think the busyness works for this composition. Maybe you could have cut the depth with a wall or something though?
One thing I noticed… although I don’t know if it is a problem… but a lot of the characters are facing square on to the table… if you see what I mean. I think some of them could be rotated a bit or be twisting their heads a little. Difficult to describe… hope that makes sense.
Yes you seem to have loads to do (I don’t envy you) but what i see so far is excellent! Keep it up
joana and Andy–Jones: Thanks a lot, I’m pushing on and luckily I still have plenty of time.
John Keates - Thanks for the advice - I think the busyness will recede somewhat after I put the colour in. I’m planning a hazy, subtle, golden-yellowy sunset in the background.
Square on characters - Originally I was thinking of quite a formal table setting so it doesn’t bother me really that they are all staring forwards.
Maybe its the awkwardness of the situation that is making them stiff, combined with the lousy speech the Earth Commander is giving?
Adding details and refining forms; this time I spent some time on the various kinds of food. What do you know, a miniature flautist has appeared from nowhere… too much coffee I think.
Detail of the dolphin and alien characters. One of the aliens is made of jelly; you can see his internal bits and pieces…
Me too, I would love to start the colour now but I’ve got to put in a little more effort on the underpainting.
Its killing me but hopefully it will be worth it.
I think my mistake was drawing it out on A3 paper and scanning in at 300dpi, then painting straight onto that.
The size is way too big.
Secondly I should have reconfigured the painting to have 1 main figure and a couple of secondary ones.
Instead I have a lot of stuff happening and a lot of work to do.
At least I can say it is epic in scale…
