The first search for a concept, I favour some over others immediately, kind of thinking either a 70’s or 50’s theme… but who knows to early to be making plans.

The first of a few rough ups, like the over all idea, like the girl, not so sold on the alien, but it’s rough.

The thought that the two characters are not really interacting has occured to me, back to the drawing …tablet.

For some interaction you could wrap one of the aliens arm(s) around her. So as to show her being some what defended, all the while, she also has her weapons at the ready.

Great concept.

Thanks Caricc, I was thinking that too, in my initial rough that’s what I had done, it’s kind of tough to see but now my little brain has gone off on another tangent completely. I’m trying to flesh out a more interactive cinematic scene, probably too ambitious of a project but hey if you don’t shoot to score…

I’ve been going through a lot of variations here, lots of different ideas, and since the idea of this whole thing is to show one’s work here we go… this is the initial rough sketch idea for a wide cinematic style scene, alien invasion last stand sort of thing

Now here is the previous sketch fleshed out a little more, (cinematic 1 was very similar with some more fore ground elements) the idea being humans on the left repelling aliens on the left against a back drop of a night skyline with alien mother ship, bomb bursts etc. The problem for me here is two fold one there’s a lack of something in the center of the picture, everything points to it but their is nothing there. The second problem is that it’s probably too ambitious for me.

In this version I think I’ve solved the problem of the middle of the picture being empty. I’ve gone and plopped the humans in the center fending off the alien hordes from a crashed jump ship (Blackhawk down like). I can really see this one and think it would be a great finished product… if I could finish it.

Now this one is some rough ideas for head concepts which will make more sense when I upload some scans from the sketch book, I’ve gone on another tangent here a simpler idea but an appealing one for me. These are all based off of pictures of insects the two lower ones are rather obvious. Of the three only the upper one appeals to me, it was of course the first one I did, and I should have stopped there.

Okay, I desperately need to settle on an idea and this is kind of what I’m thinking. I have a lot of more complicated ideas running around in my head, but since I’ve yet to actual do any digital drawings, I’m thinking I should stick to a simpler idea.

So here’s what I’ve settled on for my concept… little rough but here we go.

Okay, I’ve refined some of the line work mostly the background, like many people I rarely put a background too anything so this is a change for me. I realize the buildings and the perspective is a little weird, but I’m kind of liking it and it sort of feeds into the foreground section of broken road, I’m thinking a massive orbital bombardment of the major population centers, so with the bombardment comes some rather significant earth movement. This guy is going to be a hunter seeker, a kind of heavy shock troop, the equivalent of a small armored vehicle, their job is to eliminate any pockets of resistance hiding from the main invasion forces.

Here’s the rough color, just to give the picture something, tired of looking at white. The foreground colors are way too saturated, but are the right idea as far as the color goes … maybe.

I’ve begun detailing the alien, I need to pick up the pace, any comments would be welcome.

Here’s an update, haven’t had much time to work on it, hoping I can finish in time but I’ a little skeptical.
