Awesome drawing, Ramon! Love it! Keep it up! Fascinating to watch how you block in the colours…

A very simple but in my opinion very good concept! I like the fact, that arm wrestling shows the conflict between the human and the alien but also emphasises that they have much in common (e.g. two arms
). Sport unites them in a conflict so to say.
I agree with all the other comments - great, simple idea! Its also cool that they seem to be at a stand-still in the image.
One thing that I think not quite right is the alien’s hand. It looks too human to me (at least at this stage). If it were more ‘alien’ it would enhance the image - it would be great to see how a human hand can interlock with an alien form (claw-like, or tentacles wrapping up the human arm, etc). Their connection is already the focal point, so maybe if the aliens hand were hard to get a grip on, or much larger, enveloping the human hand…
great stuff - keep up the good work!
Hey Ramón, cool concept and nice sketches!! Like the concept and the interaction on your image , really great! The palette looks working well ! For sure looking forward for more updates! ( Muy buen concepto, me gusta mucho la idea, y el color le esta dando una muy buena atmosfera a la imagen :D) Cheers mate!!
Very nice concept, one that I considered myself but abandoned. I am glad I did because there is no way that I could compete with this. Excellent work full of force!
Have to agree with Pixemo about the alien’s arm/hand. Also the arms/hands above and behind the main characters should look distinctively alien on the aliens side - it would help - just my opinion.
Cheers,
Dimitrij.
I’ve corrected the position of the alien’s arm, I think now it shows better the effort of its owner and looks more natural. I want both of the arm wrestlers sweat their prize.
Hi Pixemo, thank you for your kind words. In fact I want to show the difference between alien and human with the texturee of the skin. Maybe some tattos, don’t know yet, but I think it is not necessary to use weird appendages to show it is not human. Remember Star Trek.
I like this idea and composition. Simple, yet strong and focused. Keep it goin. I agree about the background hands. I would add, that in the final render, maybe you can have some of the hands in back other than at 90 degree view to the viewer. It’s a simple way to add more depth to the pic.
Finally I’ve started painting, everything else will be decided on the fly. For some days this wil be on the “ugly stage”, until the final volumes and colors are established. Endless tweaking awaits, specially on the faces and hands, the focal points of the image.
Thank you all guys for your kind words and feedback
YAY! Color! Color! Color!
Aww man, cant wait to see this finished. Looks great already. Will be following your progress closely.
Hi,
Nice character and coloring, My suggestion give more muscle on the hand to show power of the character:)
Good Luck with the challenge:)
I love this idea! Humorous! How about, instead of the typical brawny alien arm-wrestler, we have a very thin, almost stick-like, big headed alien looking steel-calm as the human struggles. But it not that a big deal. I also like what you have done here! Keep going Ramon! All the best!
The human left arm proportion in the image is really short, only an observation. The hands over the fighters distracts a bit the attention on the action, a feeling that this fists are ready to hit the below heads, only a comment.
I really like this work! Perfect idea, beautiful colors…And your style is great too.
The left arm of the human seems to me a little short at the moment…
Looking forward to see evolutions!
Hi Ramon big Fan I like your idea and the character you choose . Looking at your portfolio I remember that your “Strange Behavior” could be in that contest .
As The two characters faces are the most imortant feature of the image, I’ll be spending some days on them until I’m happy with their expressions. Then there will be the hands turn. For the moment I think I have somewhat fixed the human left arm issue.
Again thank you pals.
That’s a really cool concept the interaction is up close and focused and demostrates a show of strength that everyone is familiar with. Good luck to you!
