Here we go again.
A preliminary sketch of my concept sketchy enough to be a sketch. My aim is to have a slightly comical scene with an alien having ‘run-over’ something of the astronaut’s. Ive jumped on the XSI bandwagon so hopefully I can finish (note: the simplistic ‘slug’ alien) as well as learn the new software. Next thing I have to do is tie one arm behind my back as it all seems so simple…
Good luck to all

Played with the setting of my concept. Finally come up with an alien scene which I am happy with. It even has foreground and background structure :). I also like the way the astronaut has come out. This may take me toward a more ‘cartoony’ look to the overall scene. I may get to put a hover bike in :). Comments gratefully received.

Inked concept. Now includes a nice 1950’s retro rocketship. I’ll use this to try out colour schemes later on. Now onto the modelling. Having not used XSI before I will go for the simpler rocketship to start.

My first rocketship. Not very impressive I know but it is my first dabblings with XSI…and only took 3 evenings
To all the other XSI newbies…good luck

Well here is a first model of my ‘slug’ character. Still learning a lot about xsi. I will probably aim to get basic models for all my parts then pull the scene together and see how it looks.
Good luck to all

Here is my first scene with most of the parts together (in primitive form). The red cubes are placeholders representing the astronaut and the hover scooter. Lots to do and 3 weeks to go. I will probably aim for a basic colour scheme in line with 1950’s scifi (well that is the aim). Also missing is something for the nearest foreground and something to hide the hideous horizon line (one thought is to make a crater wall as if all this interaction is within a small crater)
Good luck to all

Hey Paul, fun concept and for sure a great start on XSI software :). Keep the good work and good luck!! Cheers mate
