Some more update, more work on the characters.

#11

Hey Lisa,

Lovely concept. I’m a gin fan so you have my vote. Great work in progress. Brad

I love the staging of this. It is quite clear what is going on. It is so right to have a many legged creature as a bar-man.

#13

Thank you ^^; I was starting to have second thoughts about the background but I suppose I can give it another chance. Just need to work on the lighting and the detailing I guess.

#14

Close to calling it done. Added some colored lighting, adjustments with Hue/Sat and Curves, and more detailing where necessary. Still have 10 more days to go and I’m sure there will be some more adjustments and detailing needed. Can’t say how it’ll go considering the massive number of awesome entries, I’ll be doing the best that I can.

#15

I think I’m about close to calling it done. Done some adjusting to the figures, adjustments with color and lighting. I might find just few more areas for improvement.
Comments appreciated!

Nice to see you enter  I love the colors

#17

Very nice idea. If you would like, maybe create a cleaner outline to Her left hand, and ‘seperate’ the aliens face more from the bar lighting. And I agree, multi-handed barmen/women would be great for this planet

Really nice peice so far - great palette and a funny (albeit sad) set up. I really liked the right characters’ expressions in your alst pencil sketch you posted (entry #3.) They had a lot of personality which helped tell the story. In rendering them out, you’ve lost that and they are more subdued. (The far left alien is so impassive that you can’t read any expression on his face at all now.) I felt that the peice was stronger when the characters all had clearer emotions.

Good luck with the finishes!

Michael - I see what you mean. I guess this is in part due to my struggle to make the characters look less anime-ish and trying to bring out the more realistic facial features, I tend to forget some things. I’m reworking the problem areas now and hopefully this time the characters have little more life. Thanks for the feedback!

Dragneye - I tried using different colors on the barman, but kept the sat lvl to minimun as to not try to pull all the attention to him.

Ivy - Nice to see you as well. I’m taking a big leap here entering this huge competition as I’m still in the novice stage. Your piece looks great so far, I wish you luck.
