Uplift Universe - Image Entry: Kristof Minnaert
Decided to join this challenge, since it sounded like a lot of fun.
First draft of scene layout and character positions.
nice start
whatc h the balance between what looks like a quite moment at the bottom and a real fast heavliy diagonaled top, that might be the intention, which is cool adn dynamic or perhaps 2 diffrent images
A small update. Trying to emphasize the large background using dynamic motion of some kind of lift system.
@nochuss: Thanks for the reply, and I hope this update using some quick motion lines is better?
i think the blur is slowing down those diagonals. but the diffrence between the two is negligable.
I have only raised the issue to your attention in order for you to watch the potential confusion between a fast dynamic and a subtle soft
the 2 can play well together if treated with care and skill
they can create confusion in the image if done haphazardly
I see, point noted.
I’ll keep a very close eye on this when I start rendering out the CG elements.
Thanks again.
Rough staging of scene, I’m not liking the FOV, so I’ll fix that later.
Also, the first couple of polygons for the human female head.
An update on one of the main characters. I still need to finish the necklace and add some more props, and then it’s onwards to Mudbox for the nifty sculpting bit.
I didn’t put much effort in the lower regions, since they won’t be visible.
I also changed my mind for the outside, a polluted smog filled city looked cooler in my mind, now to only work it out.
Last organic shape, next stop is the android.
Since this is a background charater, I didn’t put much time in the armor. Not sure if I’ll keep those two nozzle thingies on his back though.
It’s been a while since I updated this, I keep forgetting to do so…
Anyhoot, as one can see, I’ve diverted from the initial concept quite a bit. This always seems to happen to me, oh well.
The basic scene elements are in place. Both characters have UV’s and the female character has been textured.
Don’t mind the crappy weighting on the characters, a bit of mudbox love will fix this.
I still need to add some clutter in the background and then it’s off to sculpting and texturing/lighting/shading/rendering/etc…
