Hello!

This is my second challenge and I am pretty excited. However, the subject is kinda out of my “comfort zone” haha so it will definetly be a challenge!

At the moment I am messing with ideas. Exploring, speed painting, experimenting, seeing what happens. I have no real idea of where I am going to go with this challenge yet, whether to make a cartoony illustration, or push myself and try something more serious and realistic.

Also, I am very unfamilar with the book series mentioned. I am not a huge fan of sci-fi! So I am unsure yet whether I will research the “Uplift” series, or concentrate my time on making something unrelated to it.

More sketches to come soon, cheers!

Kenny

I like the third composition myself…good luck!

#7

Thanks mark!

This is a quick sketch to visualise the theme I think I have decided on. I am going to go along the lines of humans worshipping an alien being as a god. I know - it looks like a jelly fish! I thought it would look cool. Still messing with ideas. More coming soon. Ken

#9

Interesting lighting… I like the bright blue with the dim reddish-brown.

#10

you’ve got great skill, jellies are all good, they have a natural propensity to look alien anyhoo, especially with their bio luminescence …

your gorilla is quite striking, loving the colours :D.

vmulligan: Thanks for the comments - lighting isnt my strong point, I find it incredibly difficult!

Lightsovereign: Thanks for the kind comments. And yes I agree, they do look quite alien! Maybe I will use the jellyfish as inspiration, a springboard to something more unique. cheers!

Cyberone: Thanks for the comments  I may develop the jelly one further and see what happens!

i3abden: thanks! Good luck to you too if you are participating?

Michael: No worries! And thanks for the kind words. Glad u like the gorilla

Ferx: hey Fernando! Thankyou for the kind words mate, much appreciated. Good luck to you too - I hope you are entering!

Dharmaestudio: thank you! I think I will develop the last one a bit further

#17

love the character concept

#18

Cool idea, and yeah, jellyfish are soo alien. My suggestion would be for some of the humans to take off their hoods, to show that they are humans? It could be another race of aliens under that hood ^^

#19

Ivy00: thanks Ivy

Pegahoul: Thanks! And yeh good advice. I need to make sure the audience knows they are human. This is just a rough idea sketch the now. Thanks for the advice!
