hey what’s up Gaberiel. I’ve been away for some time, just getting back to working these days… I love your sketch and the colors look great so far. I’ll be thread-hoppin and be back with more comments as I get framiliar with the concept. No doubt you’ll make another great piece, it’ll be fun to watch buddy!

i am hardly a stranger. but i am a hermit. neither of which i think is good. but yea, looking mighty fine right now. nothing to say here but sit back and watch.

Whew, I’m still trying, I will have some busy days, so the only way this is gonna get done is using some of the tricks I use at work, I just duplicated my flat color layers and made em’ darker and more blue, then I started to erase to discover the light areas to get this cell shaded look, later I will colorize the linework so it doesn’t make the flat colors dirty and I will flatten it all to use as a base for the real painting, I hope I will find the right mood to finish it in the next 10 days.
I still have to change the main cargo ship perspective but I will do it once I feel more confident with the deadline.
Thanks again for all your comments! Jeff and Slav,It’s always a pleasure to see you take the time to visit!! I’m really thankful guys!

Hi My Friend! I like the explanation in how to get fast the cell shading work! Experience it’s always good to share! Thanks for that! :wise:

Now about the shadows! I really like the line work, and how the shapes are showing, the light source looks good to me, still afraid that the boy looks a bit 2 little for that big hand, so maybe would be nice to cast a god ray light, not very strong though but in a more smooth way, and as for the gecko girl she may need a bit more of contrast from the big alien’s shirt so she wont look as a print from his shirt lol! Well that’s pretty much all I could saw that might need some thinking, other than this looks pretty solid and well balanced the rest!

Reminds me of a Syd Mead Illustration.

Woaw, i’m really impressed by the light and volume you bring out on your image, it’s amazing.

Great work.

David.

i hope you can finish it … i’m not so confident about mine … but let’s try :bounce:

great work!
as always =)

#68

good work Gabriel, this is looking very good :bounce:

maybe, if i had to crit something, i would say that the left arm of the main alien (our right) looks a bit strange to me, like out of perspective or I dont know… but hey, if he’s made out of rubber (or similar), why not? hehe

I’ll be waiting to see your progress when you start with the real painting  this is going to be great!

#69

Ha ha ha… very, very crazy mate! I love your style. I’ll be a frequenter of this thread.

Hi! I’m starting to paint now and this is what I got so far. as you see it’s rough , but I’m still trying to find the right feel for the whole image, I’d like to leave the colors a little blocky, and as a matter of fact I’m chiseling the edges on the aliens some more since I can do whatever I want with them, I’ll have to see how it works on the other beings, but I’m pretty sure I’ll keep with it.

Thanks for the nice words!! that makes my day any day

#73

:bounce:That’s so kuhl my friend! Really like the colors so far even if its a bit blocky yet, well I think its doing right to do the bone palette since they do seem to match well that description, and they look more ancient and big as tree could be taking ages to grow that huge…se add history to them to! haha… Although not to crazy abut his costumes yet,:curious: like I said so before, but I am sure you will turn them in an easy fix! The yellow in him, I do like it!:wise:

#74

Hey Gabriel, looks really nice your first blocking pass on the alien, like the texture and volume sensation on the hand , really cool. I think yo can go with no much tone shades on your image to put a “toon style” touch on your image  (como molesto con eso :D) Again, great work my friend! Cheers !!

#75

do keep with it bro! this is really cool indeed! that bright daylight look surely will get anyone’s attention! :stuck_out_tongue: plus me really dig your concept!
