Well - I think I’ve got an idea. I’m still formulating it, so I don’t have a composition yet, but this is a study for the eventual design of one of the characters…

mutating babsy. Its not supposed to have a smile, but i was going to mix it with aligator. Now I’m thinking some sort of baboon/bird would fit better with the story (feathers might mix better with the baboon fur - lots of colors). I like the snout on the bottom one, but the eyes of the top… needs to be expressive.

The baboon/bird idea sound good and the sketches look very promising. Have you thought of the scene yet?

Well - I’ve decided on an idea, but just not how to compose it. If it helps, The title will be something like ‘Egg hunt’. There is a broad story I’ve come up with to support the image, but I’m just not sure yet what to put into it. I’ll have some compositions soon, and more of the back-story.

Here are some composition sketches. the idea is that this new species of animal (draboons - bird/reptile/baboon), bred by aliens, has been hunted to extinction for a vital enzyme found in the yolk.

The first two are of a human, regretting his actions, holding the broken contents of an egg. I’m going to add an alien in the background

The lower one is an action shot portraying a group of poachers stealing, an egg, and in the process, killing a draboon.

Still trying to figure out which inspires me most…action or introspection.
