I’m going to be doing a family portrait of a family with a fully-alien father and a fully-human mother. The children will all look different and it will be a fun experiment in cross-planetary genetics. The background will be just one of those cheesy backdrops that photographers lay before snapping the family photograph. I will be going for photorealism for the family members. All of the family members will have different personalities as well…for example, the shy teenager in the back and the energetic little boy in front. Thank you for your time. Does anyone have any cool little ideas for me?

Mohawk in the back had me crackin’ up.

As for cool ideas, I dunno. You seem to be doing okay by yourself. Lotta modeling if this is 3d tho.

Good luck.

AS a family portrait, the mother and father should be placed next to each other. The child in the background to the mother’s right side, also place his right hand on mom’s right shoulder. The other children, the one in middle front, also move to mom’s right side, But not as far as the one in back. The one in front of the dad should ok in its current position.

Or you can just lose dad’s arm coming across. It cuts the picture in half, and it’s too far.

Other than that it’s looks to be a GREAT idea.

I totally agree about the parents being closer together. I’m still thinking about the father extending his arm around the mother, but it is far too long and out of place the way it is. The teenager in back is definitely misplaced, in fact, the addition of the teenager was an afterthought in reaction to the father’s arm being just too long and out of place. I might put both of the father’s hands on the shoulders of the little girl.

By the way, you’re not from Boonville, Missouri are you? I just drove through there the other day on the way back from visiting my brother in the Air Force.

There’s a Boonville, MO? No I live in Boonville, Indiana (Where Lincoln practiced his law). Now you’re on the right track…

This is the headless, handless setup so far. Very basic. Any comments on the placement, basic anatomy, or anything else? I decided to kick out the teenager in back in order to give the sense that these are the family’s earlier years.

I haven’t added the heads or hands yet, but this is pretty much where I am with the bodies. Any type of advice or critique would be greatly appreciated.

I changed up some stuff. Still haven’t added the heads and hands. I re-textured the girl and a few other things on the rest of them. I moved them around and changed the camera angle. Lighting and Render Options were also toggled. I’m looking for that perfect layout. I need lighting advice. Using three point lights (2 front, 1 back) for the characters. Also, one dim directional light only linked to the backdrop.

I’ve added the hands. Now I am going to move on to doing the heads.

These are the heads (the baby’s is not finished yet). They are also not textured yet. I also have yet to add the eyes. Please critique anything. I need it.
