changed the skin of the alien and stretched the neck, so i hope it´s more alienlike now.

#22

Very good modelling and texturing so far!
Do you use AR for Rendering?

#23

Hi,
thank you very much!
Yes i use AR, i don´t have any other renderer…

#24

very original look. The scene works pretty well.

#25

I have to say that your knowledge is great. How can I compete with your talent? But I’ll take up the handcuff. But you don’t have to bother; you are talking with your peers. But I shall look closely at what you are doing and create my own as a comment. I 'll have to start somewhere. Dont bother… My first and foremost goal is: to earn a legal copy of the until now unknown application “Softimage XSI”. I am a beginner and a student. That is my goal.

Hi Thalassos,
thank you very much, nice to hear!

The most important thing for me, is to exercise the patience to be slow.
It takes Time to create a scene and sometimes hours of work are for nothing when i realize: it´s not good what i have done there (so damn it and start over).
As you, i loaded XSI, but for this projekt i´ll stay with Cinema4D. With my picture i would not get where want to , but it seems to be a very good programm, i´ll try to learn. so mabe the next contest will show what i can do with this prog.
Good luck for the contest and much fun, i would like to see your “work in progress”!

Greetings,
Andreas

You are very good at handling Cinema4D. I worked with it too, as a student, and by comparison with XSI is much user-friendlier, but I thought: I"ll have to earn my copy of XSI. I am very interested in how you will compose the whole scene because your preconcept looks beautiful and promising with respect to the light falling in. I am more into that: Lighting and composing. So don’t get stuck on your modelling. It looks more than great to me now! And thanks for your encouragement…
Greetings,

Jan Henk Speelman

Thank you again,
i think starting with cinema, to learn 3D is a good choice, it´s very user-friendly. Later there are some better programs, each in its personal way.
Cinema is very good for stills (instead of the render engine), so maby i try to render my scene in XSI…
The Scene is what i´m afraid for,the Cameraview, the right lightning…
But it´s a challenge!

Greetings,
Andreas

Hi,
had some time for the contest this weekend, so i started with the human:
The coalmine-worker who discovers the alien.
He will be very small in the picture, so i made not so much details on him…
The textures are painted with bodypaint, next picture will show the hands in a closeup.

#30

a closeup to the hands…

#31

Hi,
this time I combined my models in a first testscene…

#32

had a little bit time for my scene…

#33

and one without textures!

#34

Hi, for some reason I didn’t get E-Mail-Notifications from your Thread too :frowning:

Looking really cool so far, but  I have some suggestions:

  • Simulate or use GI to lighen it all a little bit up (Bounces from the Light of the Lamp, the blue Glow and the Light coming through the Hole). At the moment it’s very dark and your great Texturing work isn’t much visible in the Scene.

  • Some quick brushing (perhaps with the C4D-Brush) over the Face of the Coalminer

  • Maybe lower the Camera to make the Scene/Scale look bigger and more dramatic.
You could choose the height of the Eyes of the Coalminer or yet lower.

Keep it up!

#35

Thank you,
You´re right it´s a bit too dark, GI is used in the scene, so I´ll try to make it stronger…
The Coalminer is complete textured with bodypaint, maybe the face needs more dirt and outlines, but in the scene I don´t want to show the face.
next WIP will get a lower view, think little bit lower than the face of the human will work.

greetings
Andreas

#36

Hi,
now I took a lower viewpoint, made the GI stronger and used an negtive light one the backside of the alien…
Also I made a new head for the Human,
but I forgot to switch on the lights of the helmet.

#37

Now a version with all lights on and a little postwork test…

#38

…spheric! Kommt unheimlich gut! Stunning! The light especially and even the grainy touch of light reflecting colours… I like it very much esp. the “alien”
Keep em goin’ n’ good luck:wavey:
Peter

Mining is a hard job.
But coming home, looking at the happy face of your child
and feeling the warm hands of your wife -
you know, this is the worth of life.

In this evening Adam Mac Gowan did not come home
to his child and wife, did not come home to his family place.
He had a lot of pints at the crying horse, with Jack and Sean
and his new good friend from outer Space.
