Upgrade Shock!!

#41

What do you mean by “sub plugin support”? Is it general support of plugin parameters or something else?

#42

There is a wee miss-understanding here. Basically there is a new Plug-in that comes as part of the XP update. I referred to it as a sub-plug-in - as that seems a fair description. Sorry for any confusion.

Are you allowed to elaborate on that? I fail to imagine what an Xpressionist plugin would do, unless it proides extensions to the Xp language or some sort of frame to frame-persistent variables capabilities. Perhaps some kind of external data import/export?

Phil.

I emailed you a week ago regarding EI handling Konkeptoine’s shaders - I never received a reply. Did you receive my email?

What i’d like to know is-

As an exclusive windows user on version 6.5, i can download the 6.6 update for free ? then get version 7 for $349.00, and with coupon for pre-order $299.00 ???

i hope this is correct.

Hi Paul,

I am not receiving your emails. Are you sending those to phil@eitechnologygroup.com
also, you can send them to sales@eitechnologygroup.com

Hi Reuben,

All v6.6 sales were suspended when pre-orders for v7 were announced.

Hi Phil,

My point is that v6.6 for windows was a free update that provided nothing more than compatibility or- improved compatibility with the mac version for files transferes etc.

With this in mind the v7 upgrade looks expensive to those who are only working on windows machines, it would seem we are paying a premium for this.

Best regards

Actually i’ve just downloaded the 6.6 update for PC but my 6.5 code won’t work so this can’t have been free… but its only a compatibility update :hmm:

but anyway i got the email, thanks Phil, i’ll be upgrading sometime early next year as this is an expensive time for us.

thanks

Wanting to stop piecemealing my AE updates, along with running “unofficial” versions of Photoshop and Illustrator for years, I finally broke down and bought the Adobe Master Collection. Expensive indeed! That plus a Lightwave update (which are always pricy and I never use it)…The only thing left would have been formZ - even though I use that all the time, for some reason I always wait two or three versions before shelling out for the update.

Seeings how I started this thread I thought I might add a little more.

Bottom line is, I use 4-5 modelers and 3-4 full 3D apps on any given project - I have a lot of overlapping features but I use EI the most in my day to day work.

It has become clear to me I should probably be current with the tool I use the most:-) Besides, with EIM coming back out I would like to add a little more support to the company.

As always, Phil is a gentleman and seems to be able to put up with me…he happily took my cash over the phone:-)

Did i read somewhere there is going to be a download version ? Phil ?

i’ve recently been stung by UK customs for importing from the US and would rather not risk that again  plus download versions are always more tempting…

#52

Yeah I read that there would be a download version in a month or so, the reason for the delay was website related rather then an intentional decision…

When I first bought EIAS, UK customs wouldn’t hand it over till I gave them £90! Thankfully, they’ve never got me for any upgrades. Downloads are instant gratification, plus better for the environment of course
