Updates for a test movie being made, called "The Offering"

#1

I had this film up in a collaborative thread a year ago but it’s gone now, so hope it’s okay to post another to show the update on the project.

Since then it’s grown massively, into a full blown feature.

It’s a movie that’s got everything I love; big action pieces, creepy horror, lots of analogies with our everyday lives, some heart felt scenes, some black comedy, thriller moments with twists, some glorious memorable characters, science-fiction etc. etc.

The process is I get together actors and crew, with some of the latest high-tech film equipment and we go out to a location to film. Mostly voluntary and done in our spare time. The scene then gets edited and graded. Ultimately, the hope is to get together a kickass trailer, and to put together a ‘test’ movie with all the footage shot at least for us to see privately.

I haven’t held back in any part of the story, there’s a lot of outstanding cool visual effects still to be done. So I’ve come up with a set of panels, with most of the live action parts of the scenes already shot, and I’ve composited in a mock-up of the CG work outstanding:

These are the CG works still outstanding from top left in the montage of panels above, and going clockwise in that order (all scenes have been shot unless otherwise stated) :-

[li]A holographic computer lady can conjure lists and charts of financial figures and float them in mid-air. Need some motion graphics, similar to that found in Minority Report.
[/li][li]Human body parts fall out from a machine and then move along a conveyor belt in this food processing factory. Can be rendered entirely in close-up to make it less to do. It’s something to place onto the end of the live action scene, doesn’t have to be long, just a few seconds.
[/li][li]One banker shows off his personal stash, a warehouse full of gold! Modelling the gold stash. The actress was standing in front of a green screen so be easy to composite the gold in.
[/li][li]The all seeing eye. Blinks and spies on proceedings. Modelling the eye and some animation.
[/li][li]A banquet that gets gate crashed by an activist. A bit of compositing work of an activist and compere into footage of a dinner scene, just for a few seconds, to be used at the start as a master and as an establishing shot.
[/li][li]The character calls upon the power of lightning from the sky to cast a spell. So lightning and mini-explosions effects that intensify as the chanting reaches a crescendo.
[/li][li]A banker gives instructions to a horned creature. Creature head needs to be animated from a neutral expression to an angry, menacing expression. No talking or lip syncing involved as the creature just growls. Feel free to use whatever model you like or come up with a new one, as long as its looks like a gargoyle or demon. The whole body doesn’t have to be modelled, just some feet walking and a tail, plus of course the head.
[/li][li]Head on a platter scene. There are thirty RAW photos of the actress to use whose head needs to end up on the platter; to put on a mesh of a head and composited into the scene. On set we used a polystyrene head with markers placed all over it to make it easy to track in post.
[/li][li]This character walks through a dream-like world, with ghostly spirits flying around in the pits of hell. The actor was recorded on green screen and filmed walking on a treadmill for close-ups as well as on a green carpet for wider shots. Should make it easy to composite in the CG effects. The effects are spirits swirling around in hell, and some compositing work.
[/li][li]A short sequence of a character morphing/transforming into a possessed being. I started using Mocha for this, seemed to work.
[/li][li]The City of London attacked by fighter jets from the air and a police helicopter powerless to stop it. This scene is yet to be filmed. Involves modelling and animating RAF jets flying overhead and a hovering police helicopter.

I’m looking for help with the CG. With my rudimentary skills, it would take me too long to do, look not very good. Plus I’m writing, organising and filming the movie and it would never get finished.

Thanks for your time reading this.

All the best,
Jules
