unwrapping for texture painting in Photoshop

#1

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if I could find an answer here.
I am at an early stage of texture painting in Mudbox and I want to unwrap (one flat piece) the 3d model so that I can paint and edit in Photoshop. I used mudbox to put markings on the model to know where I want to put my different textures. How do i unwrap it?
I hope all this make sense!

Thank you in advance =)

oh and I did “export channel to psd” but the UV is seperated into several shapes. But I actually want one single shape. Is it because of the UV?
Thanks =)
