Unrolling object deforms when following an angled path

Does anyone know why this rolled up object deforms when it goes over the peak of this angled line? I’m trying to animate building insulation unrolling over a peaked roof. When it hits the highest point and starts to travel at a down angle the rolled object becomes very distorted right at the peak, and then goes back to normal when it starts going down. I’m using Path Deform, Bend, Taper, & Skew to create the roll.

I’m also having a hard time finding any quality courses or even youtube videos that show advanced animation techniques. I don’t see any on Lynda or udemy. This is the only helpful one I’ve found. https://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/animation_and_rigging_techniques_for_architecture_visualization/
