unexpected reflections

#1

Hi, I´m using an image map as a enviroment prove for global ilumination & reflection, to render a character. This mode has reflection and non-reflection surfaces but when I use this image as a enviroment probe, my non reflection surface, reflect this enviroment too

Look at the gloves to see the example:

  • The entire frame

  • Detail of the hand

As you see, in the globes is reflecting the enviroment image , but this surface has not any type of shader (image, procedural … ) or reflection propeties!

I do it a matte node to connecting whit the opacity channel of the image node to reduce the effect of the enviromment, but the reflection in the gloves continues …

Is possible to isolate this effect to a specific surfaces?

How can I solve it?

Thanks!!

I found this too a while ago, my only tip is too, skip probe and use spherical mapping instead.

Thanks AAAron, i will trying your solition

Thanks AAARon, much better using the image as a Spherical image

Looks great , is it sss on the “hair”?

Yeah! looks great, it´s my best render in messiah

SSS on the hair? what hair :surprised ?

In the body/head, I did a gradient with incidence angle, to make the lightin colors at the back of the drop (his name is ‘gotito’, is a drop of blood with arms and legs for the red cross in Spain) and the darken color in the front, 2 gradients more to control the Specularity and Glossines and any of grain to bump.

The plastic of his Glasses have subSurface Scattering, to simulate the translucency, but it´s not very acurate, I have not much time to work in this Image, and the final size of the render is 2048 * 1536  it´s around 1 hour of render!!

The wrost of all is the Texture map of the sands  , but I´m happy with the finnal result, it´s not too bad

Thanks for all AAAron :buttrock:

Excellent model, textures and render. I’m enjoying the lighting.

Love the hair, BTW
