Unable to create a portfolio because of username?

#1

I’m unable to create a cgportfolio, and I’m guessing this is because of the hyphens in my username. I’ve checked the FAQ, and it tells me that i can select domain when i create the portfolio or something, but i just get “file missing” when i try the creation link, and if i try the domain matching my username I just get the standard portfolio frontpage. And as far as i can see, there is no way to change my forum username.

I’m i just stupid, am i doing it wrong?
Is a admin able to change it for me, or do i have to delete my 10 year old user and create a new?

Hi zen,

No, the feature doesn’t exist anyone. i’ll need to do it for you.

what would you like your username to be?

I’m glad I found this thread because it looks like I’m having the exact same problem. I can log in through the process of attempting to reply to a message as that is a separate login screen from the standard drop down login menu. I also have a hyphen in my name. So would I need to have my name changed to set up a portfolio? Sorry about the hassle and thanks for the help.

Hyphens are allowed. i just created a test account with a hyphen and didn’t have any trouble.
I’m not sure what the problem would be, especially if you can login from the old style login page (ruling out an incorrect password).

You could try logging in using your email instead of your username as an experiment.
if you need me to troubleshoot further, let me know and i’m try changing you password and logging in to see if i can replicate the issue.

If you want you can change your username by editing the details section on your about page:

Thank you for your response Keenly and for your suggestions. I seem to be having an unusual problem as I can post in the forums since I can login through the old style login, going into a thread and selecting Reply, but I can’t add a portfolio or edit my information under the About section as you suggested. I tried logging in with my email under the normal drop down login as well and that doesn’t work either. I’ll try resetting my password and see what happens.

So I tried resetting my password then I tried logging in through the drop down menu both with my username, then email and unfortunately neither worked. I’m stumped, but at least I can post in the forums, so that’s good.
