hey i did an overgrown shrine wich is intended for a samurai rpg game. it features a lanturn as well as a traditional shrine cover. a tree has engulfed it and one of the roots has penetrated through the bottom.

here is my sketch

here is some work in progress this is fairly new to me so i thought it was 1000 faces for some reason so i later had to go back and tack out some of these things. i also rearanged some things like the lantern and added the root.

heres the final. its exactly 1000 tris

heres the maps

and heres a couple of close ups.

thanks guys your great!

hi there,

cool concept sketch,
first i thought, wow thats way too much for 1000 tris ,

but as i can see, u did it, and i like it.
clean uv unwrapping for my opinion

good job

thanks pauler. i appreaciate the feedback. ya i cant beleive i got exactly 1000. there may be an overlaping face somewhere. i acidently duplicated the object somehow and i had to clean it up in maya by using the paint selection tool all over, what a pain in the butt  . But overall i really liked the contest because it forced me to have a deadline and get to work wich somtimes i have trouble doing of my own freewill. . but ya thanks.

hehe

sounds like a lot of work, that cleanup thing.
but yeah, its good to have a deadline from time to time  i´ve the same problem with myself … sometimes  but i´m currently working on my solo - project movie … so theres enough to do…but urg … sometimes i MUST do something else like this mini challenge

so again, nice work, keep it up
i have 1000 triangles too … can have a look at it in my post … somewhere down below with no answeres :frowning:

nice:)
i did notice one thing that jumped out at me, the lantern’s glass would have smashed if the trunk of the tree went through it, at the moment its just intersecting.
