UGAC/MGAC THEME: MUSIC
Your game studio has decided to make a game based on/around music. Pick some music that moves you and translate that into a video game asset. It could be Ludwig Van Beethoven as seen in a fighting game, Ozzy Osbourne in a cart racing game, or Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstrat as a robot. You decide what music, what style, and what game genre your entry will be from.

UGAC Guidelines:
Keep your submissions true to current/upcoming generation possibilities. Figure out what type of game your making and use those numbers to guide you. Judges will look at final polycount and texture sizes when evaluating submissions. Use the following thread for help -> [http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=127&t=481174](http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=127&t=481174)
ENTRY/SUBMISSION THREAD:
Create a thread titled
UGAC I Title_of_Piece Your_Name
example
UGAC I Master Ninja Beethoven heavyness"
and keep it up-to-date and use it as your w.i.p. thread. State in the thread what type of game your submission is for. And for final submission, post the following
[ul]
[li]1 real time shot of your mesh [viewport screenshot][/li][li]1 wireframe picture [showing front and back of model][/li][li]1 beauty shot[/li][li]all texture sheets[/li][li]turntable, animations, and anything else are welcomed but not needed[/li][/ul]DEADLINE:
update
original deadline was 11:59pm PST May 6th, 2007… it’s been extended indefinitely. check my post on this page for more info.
UGAC+MGAC:
You are allowed and encouraged to work on both UGAC and the MGAC challenges. Also, you may use your MGAC submissions in your UGAC and the polycount won’t count. Example: you model an Undead Elf for your UGAC challenge and you model his Bow Staff in the MGAC. When submitting your final UGAC pictures, youre allowed to show him in his beauty shoot holding the bow staff [but you don’t have to report the polygons/textures sheets in the UGAC submission].
JUDGING:
UGAC judging will work on a 3 point scale: 3 points first place, 2 for second, and 1 point for third. Judges can not give out ties. While there is not a poly limit or texture cap, judges will look how clean your mesh is and its final polycount. They will also look at the wireframe and see if it could have been optimized to save on the final poly count. The will also look at how effectively you used your texture space. Besides the technical, they will judge design, style, and originality. Its time to stand out and this is where you get your art noticed. They will also make sure your model fits in with the current theme.
