UGAC - CHARACTER 101 - AMBIENT ARTHROPOD - Swizzle

Okey dokey, I’m in.

The game genre’s going to be something like a third-person shooter, except you play as a dinosaur. It’s going to be set in a slightly fantastic version of Mesozoic Earth and there are going to be real dinosaurs and other creatures along side ones that didn’t actually exist. It’s set in the early Cretaceous period and you play as one of the last allosaurs, all the rest of them living with you in a single large valley. I realize that this is rather unnecessary backstory type stuff, but I like to really flesh out my ideas before I work on them.

I don’t have access to any sort of art stuff right now, but I’m thinking the bug’s going to be a lot like a dragonfly. There’ll be different types of them, each one a different color and each one having different strengths and weaknesses. I should have some sketches up soon; I still have no idea what I want it to look like.

It’s a good thing I was browsing the Game Art forum this morning, otherwise I would’ve missed this!

A quick little sketch, trying to figure out the colors and whether I want to mix in other types of insect. The base insect is going to be a dragonfly, but I’m not sure what I want to do to make it more interesting. Right now it has ant mandibles.

Just a bunch of scribbles for now. I’m trying to get an interesting silhouette.
