HI this is my first competion how exciting!
well i came up with this little gem last night, its the sound snail, first discovered living in manhatten, often seen freqenting cofee houses. unfortunatly they have been hunted almost to extintion as they were discovered to be compatable with eye pods. i mean i-pods. since then they have been rarely spotted on the streets although you can pick one up on e-bay for around $30-40. they like to pick up beats in the environment and amplify them, and evolved as peolpe liked to keep them in their gardens, they virtually replaced wind chimes. thank god. but then came the tyrany of that fruit based company.

well it might not be technically a Arthropod but i modelled it last night so im going to continue with this thread.
i might give it some armour, that might help with the deffinition, but i quite like it as it is.
any way here is a wire frame and a render.
currently its 1450 polys, so i might spend them on armour or eyes not sure which yet.
p.s. judges could you really throw such a cute creature out of a competition just because hes the wrong species, im sure theres anti discrimination laws against that kind of behavior.

thinking about not done it before but ithink this model would be nice and clean to do it , probbaly export it to zbrush for snail body, seen good results for organic stuff with that plus it matches the uvw seams pretty ghood, which would be ideal for the seam between top/bot of body
here a new uvwed and textured model.
did it late last night and im not too pleased with it was using maxes cell map and render to texture to avoid seams around the base but they look pooh.
need to figure out how to get it into zbrush to do all that fancy trickery.
i dont like the texture on the snails body, it looks TOO bumpy maybe you cud tone that down, otherwise lookin great keep it up ![]()
yeah i know what you mean about the texture at mo i just using it as temp. trying really hard to get no seams you see.
think i might export it into zbrush to get high poly for normal maps no seamthat way either , i think, any ideas anyone.
