Man it’s been awhile since i actually “entered” a competition
And once again my concept art is just copy/paste. Why reinvent the wheel?

#2

here is what I got so far. I’m really just winging it (phun intended) as I go along. For that reason, i keep changing and redoing stuff and this is taking a long time

#3

another update, nearly complete.

#4

Looks Awesome.
How many polys are you at right now?

#5

Here is the update:
High poly = 216,000 ish
Low poly = 1495 something

#6

daannggg, you sure know how to use a normal map. sick!

#7

Neil great stuff man, high caliber work the modeling is wicked to see some more excellent us of normal mapping.

no crits, can’t wait to see textures progress

#8

I think i’m done. Unless you got better suggestions, other than a beauty render, which i will do before the comp ends.

#9

Looks great Neil, but aren’t you missing a pair of legs? is that a deliberate ommission? just feels to me like it could use a middle set of legs to aid in balance and spring. Not sure the middle section (thorax?) is quite working texture wise. seems a little too rusty and riveted compared to the rest, and that makes the fin look a little tacked on for mine.

Meantime, just suggestions. Awsome design and a very accomplished use of normal mapping. Keep the good work coming.

Oh, and give us some close ups.

Cheers
