Uber Brush Strength in Mudbox 2011

#1

Hi all, just started using Mudbox 2011 today for the first time (after coming from a Zbrush background) and am loving it so far. The only issue that’s come up is the brush strength/falloff seems to be way too strong. It could also be a tablet issue, but I’ve updated my latest drivers for the wacom so that should be ok.

Basically, I find when sculpting that I have to keep it on a minute strength setting of around 0.4 otherwise the changes made will be too large. I wonder if its to do with the scale of the mesh? I am currently using the practice head which is released with Mudbox. I would really like to fine-tune my results, so any help would be appreciated

brush strength in mudbox is size dependend… but it should be fine with the mudhead…

use the “b” hotkey to drag the brush size.

dragging while cursor is over the mesh will change in fractional increments

dragging while cursor is over the background will change intergal increments

double click arrow on brush strength in side panel to clamp to a specific maximum, which will yield finer control when using the hotkey to drag brush size

or use “m” hotkey and drag.
