Updated Dec 20, 2006
Sorry guys, been pretty busy with things. Lots of new stuff happening that I’ll tell you about soon! This pod cast was from Dec 6. This was just before winter holidays when there were 2 weeks left with the 3rd year animation students at Sheridan college, I thought I’d talk a bit about my experiences there.

I had a really great time teaching them lifedrawing for the past 5 weeks and I’m missing my time with them now that winter vacation is here.

For this episode I painted this drawing of Borat I did.

It’s great to hear your input while you paint; I’m watching these videos now, thanks for posting them, much appreciated.

Edit: You make some very valid points, a lot of what you said most definitely applies to me.

Wow, Bobby. that was really inspiring. I wish i could make it to Toronto to draw with you guys. Maybe I can start one here…we don’t have subways though haha. Thanks so much for giving back. I think you are the new Bob Ross. That is not a joke. Bless you.

Yeah thanks heaps bobby. Genuinely inspiring, esepecially all the stuff about making personal leadership decisions in your career, and having the passion, and maintaining the passion, as a far higher priority than status or income.
I do wonder how you achieve balance in your life, with family, friends, partner and other personal goals such as fitness and other learning, when you work 7 days 15 hours a day on drawing. It is something i always struggle with, not getting lost in my work at the expense of other things that are important to me. But i am very inspired by your commitment and thank you heaps for the tutorials.
We too do not have subways, but seeing as i’m so far away and probably wont be dropping into toronto anytime soon… maybe i should get something rolling here.
churs bobby

Hey a big thanks everyone!!

A big thanks to Rebeccak for the link. I’ll be sure to post more next week.

Slickgreekgeo - Thanks George. It was a fun thing to do and the encouragement is much appreciated.

Ha-dou-ken - Aw… thanks so much. I loved watching the Bob Ross videos so it’s an honor to be thought of like that.

Cavematty - Thanks for the comment Matty. To answer the questions about balancing my health, family, friends… I live with my girlfriend, who is also my art director (Kei Acedera). My brother lives across the hall from me. My friends I see every Sunday at subway sketching and my health… we have company meetings in the pool while we swim and in our jacuzzi

No problem. Did you want to continue to add links directly to videos to the first thread? Of course you’d also want to post a reply here so people who are subscribed will know you have updated. Also when you’ve posted new tutorials, let me know and I’ll send out the alert again.

Cheers,

-Rk

Rebeccak - Sure, good idea Rebecca. I’ll post new vids to the first thread and I’ll notify you when I do. I’m going to try and post a new one every week or two. I’m glad everyone has taken a liking to them!

I just wanted to chime in here and thank Bobby for sharing his insights with us. I have enjoyed seeing your work the last year or two, and now seeing your keep-it-simply, yet clear, direct and passionate approach to your work is inspiring.

Hearing you talk about your clear, common-sense approach I think helps explain the strengths in your work. It’s exciting to see someone describe ideas so similar to what I have felt is right, and actually have some success. I feel I can move more confidently in following a similar direction knowing that it’s not just a dreamer’s intuition, but a path that has proven results for others as well.

Again, thank you for sharing, and thanks to Rebeca for leading us to a much needed oasis.

The New video will always be at the top of the thread. Thanks to everyone for their comments and feedback. Its been great.

Here’s the first video

Hi Everyone,

I’ve uploaded some videos on Youtube of me painting while talking about things that interest me, how I began my career as an independent artist, our studio “Imaginism Studios” and my learning process that got me to where I am today. If people like it then I’ll try and do one of these about every week or two. The sound is a bit low… I’ll work on it. Hope you’ll enjoy and perhaps leave me some comments as well.

PS. I know this kinda thing is new so if it doesn’t belong here then feel free to take this down and I’m sorry for the inconvience.

#18

Bobbie, thanks again for your insight. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Like Cavematty I was wondering what software you use to capture yoursessions.

Also, what’s the best way to get your thoughts and crit’s on some of my work?

Bobby - you are always out there on the edge - this is a great extension of your presence on the web. Everytime you innovate, we benefit. Great work!
