Tutorial to create the Aurora Borealis

Has anyone created the Aurora Borealis in 3ds max that can share how they created it. I would like to create an animated [b]Aurora Borealis for a CG Animation I am making. I hear that its possible using particles but have not seen a definitive answer to completing the task.
