turn edges on quads

#1

I just found the turn edge command. I thought it was the equivalant of SpinQuads in LWave. But it only works if the edge is between 2 tris, not quads. The purpose of SpinQuads is to keep the mesh in quads, but change the edge flow direction.

I have seen some amazing work with SpinQuads in UserDelta’s timelapses.

You will have to do it by converting the quads to tris

But you are right a feature like that wouldn’t hurt Wings3d at all.

In 3dsmax “Turn [edge]” is one of my favorite features in editable mesh, but abset in editable poly because it uses quads instead of tris. To get around this, I’ve hotkeyed “Connect” to ctr-c to make the proper edge placement (between two selected verticies), then crtl-r to “Remove” to remove the new edge (selected edge is sub-edge). Similarly, I hotkey collapse to shift-c. Those are me most common hotkeys besides viewport orientation.

It’s uncomfortable and awkward at first, but you’ll get used to it. Pretty soon it’ll all be automatic and you won’t even think about it.
