Are they using it? It doesn’t seem like it when you do a close up on that trailer. I actually have no idea whose even working on it
Any ideas?
Troy - MASSIVE?
I thought the teaser looked cool with all the boats… WOW.
From what I read, The Moving Picture Co. Framestore CFC and Cinesite are working on it… also wondering if massive was used
according to that site, Endorphin was also used in lord of the rings.
Looks like nice program or pluging or whatever u want to call it.
Endorphin is a very different tool from something like Massive - Massive controls the overall state of what is going - tells characters whether they are meant to be walking in one direction or running in another, etc…
Endorphin is then on a per-character basis and actually creates the animation for that walk or run, etc…
and no, Troy does not use Massive…
Hello
Just a quick note. MPC def not using MASSIVE. Instead using in-house crowd software, plus HAVOK and Endorphin for physics stuff.
Nice!!
just a note Endorphin is used to simulate controllabe and realistic ragdoll animation. not an animation program, I you want to animate a character walking then use whatever, if you want to animate a character being run over by 100 charging lions realistically Endorphin will do it a hell of alot better than the best animator.
can’t wait for noodle.
Mwai Kasamale, I think you might be mistaken there…
If you take a look at the Endorphin Natural Motion page you’ll see that they describe it as “Virtual Motion Capture”
Engines like Havok and Karma mainly do Rag Doll physics, but Endorphin is so much more (expensive ;)) than them…
just slightly off topic but still on Massive crowd stuff.
Was just watching the Two Towers dvd and took extra notice on the massive armies and good they really were when someone paid extra attention to them.
If you look at the last Charge of King Theoden and Aragorn on horses charging down into the orc. the part where they were going downhill just before Gandalf re appears. Take a close look at the Uruk-Hai (?) while King Theoden and Aragorn are charging at them. They seem to be walking on water. Some of them seem to be buckling down and falling off the stairs even before the horses get to them.
Just something little I noticed just now.
my bad, I used the wrong word, I meant to imply it not being an animation program.
NOODLE rocks!! Or something like that!! :buttrock:
Fingers crossed I can still get my butt into gear and make some headway on the program, as I’ve just started work at a UK VFX house. So busy, busy, busy!!
If you want to know more about the app, try my website or see some of my other posts - might be of interest?

I think I noticed that the second time I watched the movie. MASSIVE shots don’t look very good when you can pick out the individual ‘actors.’
For example, in ROTK, when the orcs are fleeing towards the oliphaunts. That’s one of very few shots in any of the movies where you can see their feet. And boy do they walk/run/turn funny
It came to mind while watching that trailer last night that Troy is the new Titanic, except it probably won’t be terrible. I mean, here’s the facts. It’s an action movie with big battles on par with Braveheart and Gladiator. AND, it’s got Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, two actors guys don’t mind and girls LOVE. Troy was under siege because of a love story, which I am sure will be played up in any Hollywood film. So you’ve got a huge draw for both dudes and chicks. Craziness! I’m pumped for this film.
