I would like to know how I can make a tram follow a motion path. I have modeled a tram. Now I tried to rig it an make it folow a motion path but I am not able to get the skeleton to follow the path. It will move but not bend along the path.
Tram motion path
You didn’t specify a software so I will share how to do it as far as I know in Maya.
To make the"tram" move along the path you do the following.
First you need to make a path for it to follow, I drew mine going
>create>pencil curve tool
I drew it in the top view to ensure it was all flat horizontally though if your tram has vertical variation you can change that later on by selection the points to your curve and moving them.
To get the tram to go with the line you drew select it first, hold SHIFT and select the curve you drew.
>animate>motion path> attach to motion path
It should now at least follow the path.
The orientation of the tram may be off so you can fix that by keyframing the settings for your motion path in the attribute editor called “front twist, up twist and side twist”
Hopefully this gets you in the right direction.
