Poco:
Great work I love the truck, your tree is coming along great aswell, just a suggestion on the leaves thing, try a particle system with instances of a model leaf or group of leaves.
Looking good
Looks really good Poco! ![]()
The tree would look better if you could add a little more twist and bends in the limbs. It’s too straight for me at the moment. That scene looks really sweet though!
Don’t forget to post your info on the credits thread
Kirt:
I’ll take care of the tree as you asked (more bends).
ckpew99:
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try it out (I dont have much experience with particle systems in maya, but I’ll have a go at it).
In general:
The “ComposeDoodle” was just as it said, to show what I have for the moment, nothing more.
Somebody will hopefully take care of the lighting and background after directions by Kirt (I dont know what he has in his head
, in other words I dont know the story as of yet -hint - hint-).
Anyway, thanks for the response.
Poco
PS: dont hesitate to correct my English (especially the 3D related words, someday i’ll learn them by hard :hmm: )
It has been a while, cause I am trying to get a grasp with maya and especially “TEXTURING and UV MAPPING” (I have never done it before).
Well Kirt, what do you think, do I continue with texturing, or do you want somebody else to do it. :hmm:

IT’s missing a headlight… dunno if it’s supposed to but just looks like its missing. IF it’s supposed to be broken off or something try and make a whole ?
I think it’s looking pretty good and you should definately continue on.
I’m not sure what parts you’re considering done yet, so I’ll reserve comment until you can point out the areas. I think if you left the unfinished parts yellow, I could have identified things to critique.
Right now I don’t know if the gray is untextured or supposed to look like gray primer. The rust colored primer looks good … but what’s the separation of color on the hood and rear fender?
Looking really good poco!, really liking the rust around the edges
Maybe adding some scartches and dents will add to the relism of the battered up truck!
Keep it coming!
Have you tried added leafs to the tree youve got, I havent used Maya all to much but Ill look into what particle systems are like in Maya, Ive just done it Max and they look pretty good.
Thanks ckpew99.
Dents will follow if the texturing is done. Also some bricks under the front wheel (or where its supposed to be).
No i didnt try leaves in Maya yet. Still learning the prog (Damn, its SO very different then max). If you could give me a hint or a url to a tutorial, it would be great
Thanks for the update! You can just keep on going man. Nothing to critique. I think it looks fantastic! ![]()
Another update.
Still not satisfied with:
Tires
Wheel
Windows
Chrome
They all need to be dirtied-up (or something like that).

PS: My wife told me it looked like a banana (practical as they are:) ) so I put a label on the door of a famous (at least in Belgium) banana brand.
looking sweet! ![]()
chrome and windows need dirt - that’s probably why they look odd to you. I love the chiquita banana label on the side!
