Just out of curiosity…what are some of your favorite CG magazines and websites?

Hi Brian,

Just to mention a few, my favorite CG magazines are Cinefex and the german based Digital Production Magazine. The latter is such an asset to the CG community, that I would almost encourage people to start learning german :slight_smile: This being said by a dutchman, is of course a big compliment…

Magazine - 3D World.
Websites - EITG :), www.fxguide.com, www.3dtotal.com, www.ilmfan.com, www.cgsociety.org, effectscorner.blogspot.com (Scott Squires’ blog). www.vfxtalk.com (I like the forums, especially the project discussions)…just to name a few.

Hi Brian,
In one of his earlier blogs, Mr. Squires mentioned that there may still be a future for Commotion. Do you have any insider information ;)?

I could ask him personally… but generally Commotion is basically in the same boat as EI. Its a package that had its hey day, has a strong following, but fell out the marketing limelight for any number of reasons and other packages that have taken center stage. Commotion could certainly make a comeback, but it will take refocusing the product and putting it the hands of a company/distributer that can position it properly in the marketplace.

Not to digress, but didn’t Pinnacle buy Commotion/Puffin Designs? I believe it
stopped on the Mac at version 4.1 for OS X/OS 9.2.
