Hi guys,
I did some experiments in painting shapes with paths in TP and Krakatoa, different styles:

Hey, cool effects, Hristo!
Is it krakatoa 2 specific or all interesting has done in TP?
maybe some info on it? =)
Glad you like it, I had some fun with these
So, there’s two parts - the dynamics and the shading. The dynamics were pretty simple - in the pulse one it’s just a random walk spacewarp. In the wires one it’s random walk plus a force that turns on randomly, for a random window of time, that pushes to the local x axis - creating the spirals. In the digital one, it just velocity that switches to +1 or -1 on the local x, creating the 90-deg turns, again on random intervals. The leads are run from the inside of the letters, they emit trails, until they hit the surface of letter. A few of them do continue out though, giving the organic look, they get stopped by age.
For the shading, I only use the trail particles, and I save a few custom TP data channels when caching to PRT. I save the ID of the parent, a sweep along the length of the trail (particle age and value to time setup), speed of the sweep. Then I use these to shade with KCMs - give color and density variation on each strand, reduce the number of strands if necessary, put in some emission where the sweep channel goes up, things like that. I’ll post the scenes and tutorials on my site these days.
