fcking system… well then, could u take a look at them in my deviantart gallery plz? they are the 2 most recent pics
Drake_Stormrage,
The anatomy study is pretty nice! I might recommend filling the bkgrd with gray, as it will inform your values to a great degree. Then I would continue to adjust values until the form really reads almost as 3D. This is coming along quite well!

Kencho,
I think the figure needs more in the way of a pelvis ~ his buttocks are a bit too high, he needs more of a waist. I think you have a good basis of the figure here.
Have you ever studied the drawings of Burne Hogarth? I think you might like his books quite a lot.
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll take a look at those books as soon as I can. Sure I like them
Rebeccak,
Thx for the feedback, here is the reworked version. I guess it still doesnt look quite right though
If you like oils, you should take a look at the painting Sheff just posted on the Life Painting thread here.
Have you ever done Master Copies? These are great to do to learn proportions…you should definitely check out the Master Copies thread.
There’s a lot of great stuff there, and I can’t think of a better way to practice drawing!
Cheers,
~Rebeccak

andreja,
WOW, this is really incredible!!! The translucency of the skin is amazing…clearly you have a ton of skill. Great to see this work ~ hope you will be posting more! :bounce:

Is this still going? Hopefully this is the right place to post this (only just discovered this forum and am now kicking myself).
My first Torso in Zbrush, 'bout half a days work.
Very crude base torso taken from Maya to Zbrush.
Would love to know where I’ve gone wrong.

here’s my contribution !!!

painted in photoshop 6 over about 8 hours in 3 sittings.
whilst painting this i really started to
notice how the human skin changes colour in light and shadow…
i stuck my reference on the side and copied the image by eye,
sometimes using guidlines for proportions...
i also like to use the Liquify tool a bit, to push things around, and back into shape if ive done some detail too soon...
this was great fun to paint , a real challenge !!!
i didnt want to spend too much time on it to get it perfect, i like to move on and keep practising !!
please crit...

Hi Dan,
For some reason your image is not appearing in your post, at least I can’t see it - would love to see you work, can you repost your image? Thanks!
Nice thread and good studies guys. Thot i wud contribute a torso study i did some time back.

I recently cleaned up my studio space a bit, and found a stack of sketchpads from an informal figure drawing group i used to be a part of. since relocating to a different city, i have fallen out of practice with regular figure drawing from life. this thread reminds me how much i miss it!
here’s a torso, disregard the foot under the knee- i started early and the model shifted when i was still laying out the initial proportions, and i rarely erase…

these are usually quick poses, so 10-15 minutes is the usual time spent. conté on paper, 20"x30"
i’ve assembled additional figure drawings on a gallery on my website
www.leapoffacliff.com/figuredrawing.html
i’m really interested in putting together another informal drawing group now.
thanks guys for the inspiration, some wonderful, wonderful work in this thread!
