hi… do u know what i do if i want to post a video in my portfoilio ???
i should be a premium membership??

You need to buy all of the Expose series which grants you l337 member status which will then allow you to display videos.

Also, great thread title, very informative, with such a descriptive title i know you’ll fill this forum with other such descriptive titles.

merc…but how i can buy them??

It was sarcasm on my part because of your terrible, useless thread title.

If you’d taken the time to do the briefest of searches you would see that this forum does not allow for videos to be posted here directly, they are always linked to an outside source with only some example images displayed in the post.

To put a video in your portfolio you are pleased to buy a cgtalk membership account. It costs 29$. http://www.cgsociety.org/about/

I think I may have sent a message to the wrong people so I’ve been looking for the right thread to post my question. I hope this is the right one.
As for what the first individual was asking about uploading videos:
I have a paid membership, just bought it last night. I got this account for school, really. Mr instructor informed us that if we didn’t want to build our own sites and pay for hosting and space and what not that we should at least buy a membership here to post our portfolio images and our demo reels.
He needs to be able to view my portfolio with demo reel by the end of next week so I’m trying to get answers as quick as possible. Sorry for double posting if I did.
This is my first time here so it was hard to find this thread. I kinda had to “incidentally” navigate here as the FAQ didn’t mention much.
Sorry, I’m trying to be a detailed as possible as to what I need. I want to upload my video. I have a paid membership. I encoded it like it said on the “upload video” thread. I downloaded the CG java thingy but that’s where it stopped because the Java thingy (I’m sorry, it’s that window I’m supposed to download to upload my video) won’t open with any programs. I tried opening it with explorer, adobe photoshop , dreamweaver, fireworks, quicktime, flash, adobe reader…well, you get the point. It wouldn’t open at all with any of them. I then tried to do the command line by copy and pasting the code into the command window but it said the code was unrecognizable.
Now, here’s what I may think could be wrong: I am running on Windows 7 and a lot of programs are not built to run on windows 7. Is this the case with the java video uploader window? I have a very decent video card so I can’t see that being the issue but you never know. Or maybe there’s a different command line for win 7?
I really can’t figure it out. I looked in the FAQ but, well, you now know how that went. Please help me. I even tried to google “How to upload video in CGSociety” but to no avail.

Thank you so much in advanced. Sorry this was so long but I wanted to be a descriptive as possible to help you in in helping me.

No offense, but this is a bit silly. If it’s a Windows program built since Vista came out in 2006 then it’ll work in Windows 7. And most programs built before that work fine as well. Especially if you use compatibility mode. Just make sure you’re actually trying to run a Windows program and not a Linux or Mac program.

To solve your actual problem. You probably don’t have the Java installed on your computer: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

to be honest, there’s no need for you to be rude. I think that’s one of the rules of the forums. Thanks.

And, yes…I did download the Java…silly

Sorry, but what you said was unnecessary.

Anyway, just to clear things up so I don’t get silly fluff like what I got from Dan, here:

I know how to download a program…The CGUploader I downloaded was from the direct link supplied from CGSociety.
I have downloaded the latest version of Java.

Basically I followed all those steps in the thread that explained how to download the CGuploader.
Now, if someone who is helpful can help me I’d really appreciate it. And, come on now people…I didn’t post this to hear your opinions about life. If you want to banter…well, I’m sure this is not the place to banter. Dan, you might want to read the rules of posting to threads where it directly says “Think before you mouth”. Why would I not be offended if you’re calling me silly??? Use your head.
If you need to express your opinion because of some sick desire then PM me so I can ignore you
