Dang, I missed nostalgia! Or…I miss nostalgia? Anyway -

Him/Her

  • By this I mean people should choose ‘Him’ or ‘Her’, even though ‘Him/Her’ has some interesting androgynous potential

#1583

You can still draw on it!

#1584

we should do these for a topic
-electronic games
-aliens attack
-supernatural
-cat fight
-inlaws
-i saw it on a boat trip
-my friend frankenstein
-family reunion
-super geeks
-my stomach’s empty
-what my boss looks like
-copycat

i think one of these should be a cgtalk daily sketch topic

ZZZzzzz…

#1585

Hehe, thanks Roberto, but sometimes you pass your own deadline when waiting to draw things because something in real life catches up. Yesterday I was swamped with very, very boring things to do that prevented me from taking part in the Nostalgia thread or the Avatar Wars. sigh Such is life

Topic suggestions for today:

Heart of Ice

Treasure Hunters

Portal

Depressed

Optimistic

Flora

Fauna

Confused

Groovy

OR: How about a ‘topic week’ with the topic being… decades of the 20thC?
20s, 30s, …70s, 80s, 90s?

I suggest you make the time limits a little longer-10 and 15 mins are just too short. Maybe if you make the shortest time 30 mins, that would be better?

If you can’t make it to 30, just submit the time you DID do it in. Most people go over the time anyway. Plus, if you make the time a bit longer, we’ll have better stuff in here and people will have time to really develop their work a bit more.

and finally, sketch something visualizing the following sonnet by Samuel Daniel:

Care-charmer Sleep, son of the sable Night,
Brother to death, in silent darkness born:
Relieve my languish, and restore the light,
With dark forgetting of my cares’ return
And let the day be time enough to mourn,
The shipwrack of my ill-adventur’d youth:
Let waking eyes suffice to wail their scorn,
Without the torment of the night’s untruth.
Cease Dreams, th’imagery of our day desires,
To model forth the passions of the morrow:
Never let the rising Sun approve you liars,
To add more grief to aggravate my sorrow.
Still let me sleep, embracing clouds in vain;
And never wake, to feel the day’s disdain.

I thought the Davey Jones Self - Porttrait was an great one. It would be neat to do an entire week along a similar path. Somthing like:

  1. Self as a X-men
  2. Self as a Jedi/Sith
  3. Self as opposite gender
  4. Self as a Greek God
  5. Self as a Zombie
